The unit applies to the preparation and weighing of fibre, yarns, raw materials and finished products, and checking that weights are accurately recorded. Work may be conducted under some supervision.

Work may be conducted in a variety of environments, such as:

Work may be conducted in small to large scale enterprises and may involve individual and team activities.

This unit requires the application of skills associated with planning and organising for the safe and efficient use of weighing machines and equipment. This unit also requires problem solving ability to check materials and compare details to production orders. Communication skills are required to read numerical information and complete workplace documentation.
